The Urban Swing Big Band is one of two ‘big bands’ coordinated under the company called Urban Musicians P/L with three directors who arrange and manage all the necessary member subscriptions, costs, insurance, marketing, tax, etc.

Gig Fees;

Performance fees are based on venue, location, type of function, travel and performance time, and in general are quite modest. From $500 for a small in- house gig, up to $2500 for a corporate gig is typical; fees are discussed and negotiated in the first instance with the band’s musical director Shea Stanley on 0414 973 219, or email at sheastanley@mail.com. Urban Musicians P/L will issue an invoice on confirmation of the gig. A 20% deposit will be required within 7 days of invoice, with the balance to be paid within 7 days prior to the gig date. Payment by cash, cheque, or EFT is accepted.

For some non- profit organisations and venues, such as the Jazz Clubs in the region, an agreed and formalised ‘door deal’ has been an acceptable and successful alternative.

Insurance;

The band has its own public liability insurance cover of up to $10m.

Equipment;

The band is self sufficient in terms of PA, music stands, lighting and stage risers (if required).

Performance requirements;

Safe and readily available access from car park to venue for unloading gear is necessary.

A minimum area 5m by 4m or more is preferable; however the band has been known to ‘squash’ into a very small area.

Readily available 240v power is required for PA, lighting and amps.

Over head lighting is preferable; however the band does have its own lighting, if necessary.

Depending on the function and how the band is arranged, 5 to 6 chairs are sometimes required if the front line is seated.
